Western Sydney Training Education Centre (WSTEC)
I believe it is important for businesses to give back to their communities regardless of how big they are. I have been volunteering with Western Sydney Training & Education Centre (WSTEC) since June 2018.
WSTEC is a Not-For-Profit registered charity that was created to give assistance to the local community. They run three Links To Learning Programs. Two of the programs are based in Whalan (in Sydney’s Western Suburbs) and the other is in McGraths Hill (in the Hawkesbury region). These programs are funded by the NSW Government and administered by the Department of Education and Training. They cater to youth aged 15 to 17, who are at risk of disengaging from school. Students are referred directly by their school. The objective is to have the students transition back to their base school to continue their education after the program.
Students are supplied with all of the resources they need, as well as Breakfast when needed. Teachers are supplemented with Teacher’s Aides giving a high Teacher to Student ratio (>1:3). Consistent and frequent communication with the student’s base school is maintained to ensure that you are kept informed as to your student’s progress throughout the course.
I currently volunteer my time between the hours of 9:30 am and 2:30 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. You can contact me via my contact form or email during these times.
