Western Sydney Training Education Centre (WSTEC)
I believe it is important for businesses to give back to their communities regardless of how big they are. I started volunteering with Western Sydney Training & Education Centre (WSTEC) in June 2017. In 2019 I was promoted to be the Administrator of the Penrith campus working out of the Penrith PCYC.
WSTEC is a Not-For-Profit registered charity that was created to give assistance to the local community. They offer a program known as Links To Learning. WSTEC operates this program from four locations, Penrith, Whalan, McGraths Hill and Blacktown. These programs are funded by the NSW Government and administered by the Department of Education and Training. They cater to youth aged 15 to 17, who are at risk of disengaging from school. Students are referred directly by their school. The objective is to have the students transition back to their base school to continue their education after the program.
Students are supplied with all of the resources they need. Teachers are supplemented with Teacher’s Aides giving a high Teacher to Student ratio (>1:3). Consistent and frequent communication with the student’s base school is maintained to ensure that parents and teachers are kept informed as to the student’s progress throughout the course.
I currently work between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:30 pm Tuesday to Friday. You can contact me via my contact form, SMS or email during these times.
